Defining a person in a ‘position of trust’ regarding unlawful sexual behavior

There is no substitute for trust. Stephen Covey wrote: “Trust is the glue of life. It’s the most essential ingredient in effective communication. It’s the foundational principle that holds all relationships.” It is the intersection of power and vulnerability. When referring to unlawful – not just improper – behavior, who is a person in a ‘position of trust’? People that immediately come to mind may include clergy, teachers and coaches, babysitters, health and mental health professionals, and guardians.
